Why SafeHabits exists
SafeHabits exists to help people build simple, repeatable habits around safe ownership — starting with something small but meaningful: rotating safe codes.
Most safes are mechanically sound. Over time, the way entry codes are chosen, reused, and left unchanged can quietly weaken their effectiveness. SafeHabits focuses on practical steps that fit into everyday life, without requiring new devices, accounts, or constant attention.
What SafeHabits is – and isn’t
SafeHabits is an educational project and optional reminder service. It provides guidance on how to think about safe code rotation, along with tools that make it easier to follow through.
It is not:
- A surveillance tool
- A marketing platform
- A data collection service
- A replacement for manufacturer instructions or professional advice
The goal is to support good habits, not to monitor or enforce them.
A deliberately minimal approach
SafeHabits is intentionally lightweight. The site does not require accounts, does not track visitors, and does not collect information unless you explicitly opt in to SMS reminders.
If you choose to use SMS reminders, only the information required to deliver those reminders is collected — nothing more.
Who this is for
SafeHabits is for people who want their home safety practices to be:
- Thoughtful rather than reactive
- Consistent rather than complex
- Private rather than performative
Whether you rotate codes every few months or once a year, the value comes from making the habit predictable and repeatable.
